Small Notes, December 2010

Greetings,

I hope you're enjoying the holiday season and are finding as much joy in it as our family. We had a terrific Thanksgiving. My kids, who love the holidays, had the ornaments up the day after and have been playing Christmas music ever since!

Give yourself a gift this season and schedule your next massage (or two!) in December and try a new therapy. Discuss the options during your next appointment. Most of my massage sessions utilize a number of different therapies.

I've been getting impressive results with Visceral Manipulation. Time Magazine named Jean-Pierre Barral, DO one of the Top Healing Innovators to watch in the new millennium, citing his development of Visceral Manipulation. For myself, visceral bodywork helped resolve a chronic knee issue. What might it do for you?

Warmly,
Karen

Self Help Tips

Need some ideas for dealing with aches and pains between massages? Here are a couple of low tech ideas:

Use a golf-ball for sore feet. Keep a golf ball or two in your freezer. When you come home with sore, achy feet, roll them on the cold golf ball for relief. This can really help ease plantar fasciitis pain as well. Try putting your feet up above heart level (your bed's headboard?) for about 15 minutes as well, to ease aching legs after a long day on your feet.

For sore back or other large muscle areas, use a tennis ball. You can place one or two in a tube sock to help hold them and place them where you need them. Lie on the floor, or lean up against a wall with the tennis ball. Great for trigger point relief! Ask for a demo in the office.

Musculoskeletal Problems have a Visceral Component

According to Jean-Pierre Barral up to 90% of musculoskeletal problems have a visceral component, and this particularly holds true for whiplash or traumas. To understand why read more...
